Lynne @ Beside You Counselling

Accredited qualified Counsellor in the Borders

Firstly, I am so glad you have made your way to my website and... hello.

I am certified under Scotland’s professional body for Counselling and Psychotherapy (COSCA) and I offer short and long term therapy to adults.  I trained in London at the renowned Metanoia Institute and achieved a Bsc in Reflective Therapeutic Practice/Diploma in Humanistic Counselling which recognises the uniqueness of every individual and the potential for growth and change.

I am committed to an ethical practice. I regularly attend Supervision and use self reflection and many other learning opportunities to continue to develop my counselling practice.

I am committed to being transparent in the therapeutic relationship and passionate about raising awareness of how important good mental and emotional health is to our overall health and wellbeing.

Our first meeting

I absolutely want to ensure that you get what you need from counselling.  The key purpose of our first meeting is to identify your current concerns and to ensure that counselling is right for you at this time and to find out what you hope to get from counselling. If we agree to work together, I will suggest having a few sessions and then we will have a review to ensure you are getting what you need.

Goals in counselling

At our second session, we will agree a focus for our sessions together.  However, it is not uncommon for the initial goals to change as the therapeutic work evolves over time.

At your pace

Together, we will determine the pace of our work, built on a safe relationship of mutual trust.   I will never force you to share more than you feel comfortable with.

Complaints Procedure

As a member of COSCA, I abide by their professional and ethical codes of practice.   Their Standards and Complaints Procedures are available at www.cosca.org.uk
